Learning Norwegian for Free !

As a Malaysian, most of us were brought up in a Multi-lingual country whereby most of us could speak at least 2 language. Well, as for me ; I could speak English , Malay, Mandarin, Cantonese, Hokkien and of course now my new learning language Norwegian. Most would think it would be easy to learn a new language since I knew so many language already ~ Well, to be honest, learning at an older age isnt a good start for learning and of course, lots of motivation and determination is needed in order to learn a new language.Of course it requires memorising and practice !!

Why was it easier to learn so many language in Malaysia ? The variety of friends of various races and also influence from teh TV since YOUNG definitely made my learning of various language easier ! However having a Norwegian bf doesnt really contribute much to learning Norwegian as we usually converse in English as conversing in Norwegian would usually turned out into a misunderstanding ~

Being in Norway sometimes doesnt mean you need to learn Norwegian as most would be able to speak English well here. However, if you want to find a job in Norway and live here, you must learn their language as everyone here speaks Norwegian on daily basis.

So , there are 2 types Norwegian language ; Nynorsk / Bokmål
Nynorsk is mostly spoken in out of the town whereas Bokmål is the city language and it's much easier ~
So, Im learning Bokmål

Well, I have to learn this language in order to communicate with my boyfriend's family here in Norway. Unfortunately, back in those days, the elders did not have much english education. Thus, most of those above 50 are not able to converse fluently in English.

So, I started learning Norwegian last year and firstly started off with the basics such as I, you, we they, colours, numbers etc. Of course, I had to search for FREE SITES to learn Norwegian as hiring a tutor here in Norway or going for classes is extremely costly.

The website that aided me a lot was  livemocha.com . The Best thing about this website is that you not only can learn Norwegian but also other language too ! Meanwhile, you can help others Just Signup an acc and get started !

Another site which is annoyingly helpful - http://www.memrise.com . This site is extremely annoying in constantly prompting the same question in order to aid in memorising the vocabs. Well, it indirectly helps out the grammer as well as graphic illustrations in a humourous way to help memorising it !

Another website which is Free and helpful is http://pavei-oppgaver.cappelendamm.no ~ This site would be much better for non-begginers as most of it doesn't have much explanations or translations in English.

One for free site that gives out fun games to learn in Norwegian is http://norskna.portfolio.no ~ It's also not in  English and i would recommend if you're more confident in your basics then you can continue this website whereby it has more QnA Games

Lastly, I also downloaded some homeworks of learning Norwegian in PDF files and printed em' out so that i could write on them !! Just like how i study when i was young ~ :P

As for speaking and hearing Norwegian language, try listening and understand this http://www.listenlive.eu/norway.html to get familiar with their accent~

Other help would be watching some Norwegian films with their subtitles, get movies like Den Hengte Mannen( Imdb-6.8), Elling ,Norwegian Ninja, Kontiki~ Many more~
You will be surprised not finding Hot gorgeous sexy chics in their movies but real acting !!!

And if you ever spot Norwegians, or Swedish or Danish~ just try talking to them ! These languages are pretty similar and they could usually understand each other ! I did that in Malaysia and surprisingly could understand Danish and Swedish tourists ! As for Norwegians, they would insists to speak English if they can but do let them know that you're learning Norwegian and would like to practice by speaking to them. It might be tough at first but you can try mix some English words to those you can't explain in Norwegian~ It works for me ! That's how I learnt it ! And Oh ! Try learning to sing their songs too !
I even learnt to sing their Birthday song as it sounds super cute ! :D I still remember the lyrics clearly !~

Enjoy the song and All the Best in Learning Norwegian !!!
It's a lovely Language and definitely worth learning it !~
